A Note About Confidentiality
Keeping your information confidential is very important in creating a safe and supportive environment where you feel comfortable discussing your challenges. Your clinical records are private, and we won't share them with anyone else unless you give us written permission.

As Registered Social Workers and Registered Psychotherapists, we follow strict rules called the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice set by the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, and the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.

There are a few situations where we may have to break confidentiality to ensure someone's safety:

1. If there is a risk of harm to you or someone else, we may need to share relevant information to prevent any harm.
2. If we suspect that a child under 16 years old is being abused or neglected, we are legally required to report it to the Children's Aid Society.
3. If a court asks us to provide your clinical records related to a specific incident, we will try to talk to you first before sharing any information, if possible.
These exceptions to confidentiality are important because they involve protecting people's well-being. We take these situations seriously and always prioritize your privacy while also meeting our legal obligations.
