Sparks Fly: Fun Date Night Ideas to Keep the Romance Alive

Finding new and exciting ways to spend time together is a great way to keep any relationship fun and vibrant. Whether you have been married twenty-five years or have been dating a year, having an exciting new date night can keep the spark of a relationship growing. From stargazing to building a fort, fresh new date ideas can help deepen the connection between two individuals. 


Romantic Date Nights

  • Book a spa day

  • Go to a comedy show

  • Plan a weekend away

  • You don't have to go far to find beauty in ontario. Take a weekend trip to Toronto, Niagara falls, tobermory, or collingwood. 

  • Concert or local band

  • Go stargazing

  • Surprise date night

  • While your partner is busy, set up a small candlelit dinner, or a surprise dinner reservation.

  • Cook something new together

  • Relive your first date

  • Try something new in bed

  • Dress up and go to a fancy restaurant 

  • Have a ‘favorite things’ night 

  • Both you and your partner go and separately purchase each other's favorite drink, snack, something that is their favorite color, something they need, something that reminds you of them, something they need, something you need for the house, and bonus, you can buy a movie to watch afterwards! 

  • Lunch hour date

  • Wine/Beer tasting 

  • In Halton Hills, we are lucky to have many wineries and breweries to try! Local wineries like Chudleighs and Andrews Scenic Acres offer a variety of wines to taste. As well breweries like Fraser’s beverage company that offer many local beers, and the furnace room that offers tours and tastings.

  • Pack some snacks, blankets, and pillows in the car and watch a couple movies!



Adventurous Date Nights

  • Take a course in... 

  • Mixology

  • Cooking

  • Pottery 

  • Go to an Art gallery or museum 

  • Watch a sports game

  • Go to an arcade or escape room

  • Try antiquing 

  • See a play or comedy show

  • Try a new hobby like rock climbing, dance, or gardening

  • Try a new restaurant

  • Go on a walk in a new neighborhood

  • Have a beach day

  • Take a boat or ferry ride

At Home Date Nights

  • Picnic in your living room

  • Put a blanket on the floor, set up a movie or tv series and have a picnic on the floor!

  • Make a playlist together

  • Find a new tv-series

  • Movie night 

  • If you’re bored of the normal streaming services, try reaching into those bins with DVDs at a Walmart and buying the first one you pick.

  • Make a craft 

  • Take a photo walk

  • Go outside and try and take pictures of things that resemble letters and try and spell each other's name with photos!

  • Game night 

  • Do a puzzle together

  • Write each other love letters 

  • Build a fort 

  • Fondue night 

  • Make a bucket list together

  • Candlelit dinner and takeout 

  • Video game night 

  • Drink around the world

    • Find famous drinks served all over the world and have a mocktail or cocktail night with your partner. You can choose to make them together or choose a couple countries and surprise each other with the drinks! 

  • Create a signature drink together

  • Lego sets

  • Night in “...” 

  • Get creative and take a trip to Mexico or France in your own home by making cocktails, and a meal that you would find in the country you choose. Be sure to match the atmosphere as well by playing that country's music, and maybe even dressing in their fashion! 

  • Spa night at home 

  • Light a candle, put on some relaxing music and a robe and create your own spa night at home. You can purchase or make your own hair and face masks, give each other massages, and maybe even take a bubble bath together!
